Frequently asked questions

1.0 Do you write patterns in UK or US terminology?

All my patterns are written in UK terms, with a table of US equivalents provided, as applicable.

In some cases, I have provided both UK and US versions.  This will be explicitly mentioned in the pattern listing, and versions will be clearly labelled in the download area to help with your selection.

I am working on providing both US and UK terms for ALL my patterns so, if you require a conversion for one that has not yet been done, do not hesitate to contact  me and I may be able to move it up the list.

2.0 Are your patterns tested by crocheters before they are published?

Yes.  All my patterns are tested by multiple crocheters, of various skill levels, before they are published.  Every care is taken to ensure the pattern is accurate, size appropriate and easy to follow.

2.1 May I help test your patterns?

I test my patterns in the group DC2TOG that I share with the talented designer Briana Olsen.

Please read through the Testing Rules and Expectations before signing up for a test.  People who have great project pages with nice pictures will be asked to test before those who do not.

3.0 I am stuck on part of your pattern and need help!  What do I do?

If, for any reason, you are experiencing difficulties, please do not hesitate to contact  me. Including information such as the pattern you are working on, which part of the pattern is giving you trouble, and purchase information such as a PayPal transaction ID is always helpful.  I have a selection of help files and videos and I aim to provide support within 24 hours of contact.

4.0 May I sell the items I make from your patterns?

Most certainly.  You are welcome to sell, auction or give away any items you make from my patterns (free or paid for).  A link to the Ravelry, LoveCrafts, or Etsy shop where you purchased the pattern is always appreciated, but is not a requirement.  This does not include mass production.

Please do not use my pictures to sell your items as this is not a representation of your own work.

If you are a photographer using items you make in a professional environment, this post may interest you!

5.0 I purchased from Etsy and I am having trouble downloading the pattern!

You may find detailed download instructions here.  However, if you have tried this and are still experiencing difficulties, please send me a message via Etsy – the “contact seller” button on your receipt works best because it includes your email and invoice details.  I will then send you another download link, or arrange to email you the file(s).

6.0 I purchased from Etsy and no longer want the pattern or I thought I was buying a finished item!

During your purchase, you may recall that you clicked to waive your rights to a refund, under EU distance selling law.

Waive Rights

However, I am still happy to issue a refund in such circumstances, providing no files have been downloaded.   Please use the “contact seller” button from your Etsy receipt as this includes your order details and will enable me to process the refund quickly and easily.

PLEASE DO NOT DOWNLOAD ANY FILES WHICH FORM PART OF YOUR ORDER.

7.0 Further Terms and Conditions

All patterns in my stores are copyright of Thomasina Cummings Designs as per UK law.

Please do not sell, transmit, publish, distribute and/or reproduce my patterns in any form, or by any means.  Uploading to pattern sharing sites is illegal and against my terms of use.

I sell my patterns in PDF form, as digital downloads – please ensure you have the means to open/read such files before purchase.

In addition to my offer in 6.0 above, under new distance selling regulations (June 2014) you have 14 days to request a refund or replacement if you have any issues with your download.

Please contact me – details can be found on my Contact Page 🙂
