This pattern will produce a soft textured cowl, scarf or wrap in a choice of 60 (90, 120, 150) cm / 24” (36”, 48”, 60”) circumference as small (medium, large, extra-large).

Instructions are given for changing the circumference if you want to custom size it. For example, a snood can be made by working a 75cm (30”) circumference to a depth of 66cm (26”).

The cowl in the example is the large version worked to a depth of 13cm (5in). It was worked in 110g (200m) 4 ply yarn with a 4.00mm hook and a gauge of 20sts and 11 rows over 10cm (4”) in htr zigzag pattern.

You will need up to 400m of your chosen yarn (for the largest size cowl), an appropriately sized hook and a needle for neatening ends.

It is recommended you select a hook a little larger than you would normally use to produce a soft drape to the fabric to meet the gauge. This can be changed as long as you meet the measurements given for width and length.

This pattern is written in UK terms with a table of US equivalents provided as applicable.
